Your Audience Isn’t You

One of the easiest traps in marketing is creating content based on what you like. You choose the photo you prefer. You write the headline that sounds good to you. You focus on the details you find interesting. But your marketing isn’t actually meant for you. It’s meant for the person on the other side of the screen who may know very little about your business and is deciding whether it deserves their attention.

That shift in perspective can change everything. Instead of asking, “What do we want to say?” start asking, “What does our audience need to hear?” What problem are they trying to solve? What questions are they asking? What would make them stop scrolling, keep reading, or finally take the next step? The best marketing finds the intersection between what your business needs to communicate and what your audience actually cares about.

This doesn’t mean changing who you are to please everyone. In fact, it’s the opposite. Know exactly who you want to reach, then communicate your value in a way that matters to them. Great marketing isn’t about making your business the center of every message. It’s about helping the right people recognize that what you offer belongs in their story.

Your brand may be yours. Your message is for them.
